Russian social network VK launches desktop messenger
MOSCOW, Dec 1 (PRIME) -- Popular Russian social network VKontakte (VK) has launched a messenger, currently available only for desktops and laptops, the company said Thursday.
“Starting from today, VK’s messenger is available for OS X (macOS) and Windows,” the company said.
The new application offers all functions of VK’s customary dialogues. Users can hold chats with friends and colleagues, exchange photos and videos, send documents and record audio messages.
“In September, we kicked off a large-scale tender to test applications, and the first task was to test the application VK Desktop Messenger. It’s no coincidence it was chosen: the messenger is an experimental product, on which we’d like to try our new technologies and give a chance to strong professionals to show their worth,” Yevgeny Zinovyev, a developer of VK Desktop Messenger, said.
